How To: What You Need to Know About the New Guided Missile in Fortnite Battle Royale
Epic Games just released update v3.4 for Fortnite Battle Royale on all four platforms. This new version brings a number of UI changes, performance improvements, and bug fixes, but the addition that will get the most players excited is a new weapon: the Guided Missile.The Guided Missile is a type of rocket launcher that is only available as either Epic (purple) or Legendary (yellow). While it is far from the strongest rocket launcher, it does offer players an advantage not found with any other weapon: The ability to directly control the rocket after it's fired. With this control, players can not only attack enemies from a distance, but also guide the rocket to enemies in obscure areas that escape the line of fire of traditional weapons.
Step 1: Pick Up a Guided MissileWith its high rarity, don't expect to pick up Guided Missile often. Guided Missiles are only available in Treasure Chests and Supply Drops, so focus your search on those two objects. As the game progresses, your best bet will probably be picking up the weapon from downed enemies, so put a higher emphasis on killing than surviving.
Step 2: Guide the RocketOnce you obtain the weapon, find your first target. After firing the rocket, you will assume the POV of the rocket, leaving your character unattended and vulnerable. Using the same controls you use to move your character (left side analog to move, right side analog to adjust your aim), guide the missile around the map. When you find a target, crash the rocket into them to cause damage. You can also use the button to the right to self-destruct the rocket at any time during the flight.If you can't find any targets, firing in an open area can be helpful, as you can guide the missile to the target. The rocket will remain in the air for 18 seconds, so you have a lot of time to search for targets.
The Legendary Guided Missile offers damage equivalent to the Rare version of the Rocket Launcher, while the Epic is 5 points less. The Guided Missile travels at a speed a little slower than the Rocket Launcher, making it easier to control.Enemies are no longer safe behind structures.
