How To: Add Your iCloud Email Account to Your Galaxy Note 3 or Other Android Device
Whether you've been fully converted or just want a little Apple with your Android, adding your iCloud email to your Galaxy Note 3 is a fairly simple task. Usually, Apple and Android don't play nice, but your iCloud address can be added to your stock email app just like any other email account.As simple as adding an email account can be, it's still a little bit tricky if you're not sure what server and port you should be using. To make life easier for you, I'm going to show you how to add your iCloud to your Galaxy Note 3, or any other Android device you have. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Obviously, we're showing this process on the Note 3 using Samsung's proprietary Email app, which will be the same on other Samsung devices. For other devices, you can use your built-in email app (more than likely called "Email"), or a third-party one like K-9 Mail. While the process won't be the exact same, the values you need to input will be. If you are having trouble getting set up on another email client, let us know in the comments.

Step 1: Add a New Account to Your Email AppTo start, open the stock Email app on your device, tap on the Menu button, select Settings, and hit Add account. This will start the set up for your iCloud account.

Step 2: Enter in Your iCloud Log-in InfoEnter your username@icloud.com and password, then tap on Manual setup at the bottom. You could also use @me.com or @mac.com. Image via wonderhowto.com

Step 3: Choose IMAP for the AccountYou'll now be taken to a page where you can choose from three different types of protocols. You'll want to choose IMAP account here, as iCloud does not support POP or EAS protocols. Image via wonderhowto.com

Step 4: Add the iCloud Server InformationNext up is the Incoming server settings page, which is then followed by the Outgoing service settings page. These have different servers and ports, so make sure you input the rights ones for the appropriate sections. Skip below the pics to see the exact data you need to enter in each section. Outgoing Server SettingsSMTP server - smtp.mail.me.com Security Type - SSL or TLS (Accept all certificates) Port - 587 Username - the username part of your iCloud email Password - your iCloud password If you're asked about needing SMTP authentication, select Yes. Press Next and you're practically done.

Step 5: Finish UpYou can tinker with the account options, but I left everything pretty much as it was. You can also enter information as to what you want the account nickname to be, if that's your thing. Afterwards, press Done and you will be taken to your Email app, where you can then check on your iCloud account and its emails. All together, the whole process takes a couple of minutes and is incredibly useful, especially for those of us who want more convenient access to our iCloud accounts.

As a longtime Android user, one of the changes I was most excited about with Android Pie was the fact that the volume rocker finally controls media volume by default. However, the new way isn't ideal for everyone, but thankfully, there's an app that can change it back.With this solution, you can return to the previous Android implementation where the volume rocker's default action is the volume of the ringer unless you're watching a video or listening to audio (whether music, podcast, etc.). However, what makes this solution even better is that it keeps the media controls nearby. Therefore, while your volume rocker will control the ringer, you are only one touch away from adjusting the media control.

Step 1: Get Button Mapper ProTo change the default volume control, you'll first need to remap the buttons. To accomplish this, the best solution we've found is an app called Button Mapper by flar2, AKA Aaron Segaert of ElementalX fame. Button Mapper doesn't require root, works with Android 9.0 Pie, and it's pretty straightforward to use. You can find the app in the Play Store using the link below.Install Button Mapper for free from the Google Play Store Thanks to our readers, we learned this feature now requires the pro version of Button Mapper. When this article was first published, the free version was able to accomplish this. However, as Mr. Segaert made clear in his comment below, the app was never meant to do that. Modifying the default action of the volume rocker has always been a part of the pro version. As such, you'll need to buy Button Mapper Pro for the reasonable starting price of $3.99.To do so, open the app and select any one of the options with a padlock next to it. A popup will appear telling you this is a "Pro feature." Select "Unlock" and choose any of the three amounts to unlock all the features, including modifying the volume rocker's default action. You can pay more to support the developer or pay the minimum at $3.99.

Step 2: Enable Button MapperWhen you first open Button Mapper, you will need to enable its Accessibility Service so that the app can detect when a button is activated. A banner along the bottom will appear with the button "Go" which will bring you to the correct page. Once at the Accessibility Service menu, select "Button Mapper" and enable the toggle. Step 3: Remap Your Volume ButtonsFrom Button Mapper's main menu, select "Volume Up," then enable the "Customize" toggle, which will make the rest of the options accessible. Choose "Single tap" and select Volume+ from the list. Head back to main page and select "Volume Down." Enable the "Customize" toggle and choose "Single tap." Choose Volume- from the list.

Step 4: Give Button Mapper DND PermissionWhile this isn't necessary to control the volume, we recommend giving the app Do Not Disturb permission. Once enabled, you quickly enable DND mode by pressing the volume down button when the volume is at zero. To achieve this, long press the volume down button until a toast message appears alongside a new page. This new page is where you permit apps to manage Do Not Disturb. Step 5: Test Out Your New ButtonsNow that your buttons are reconfigured, it's time to test them out. Press either the volume up or down button and see the new volume sliders. Instead of the single slider for media controls, you will now see an additional slider for ringtone control, which the buttons now control by default. And thanks to the dual slider, you can control the media volume by sliding its controls up and down using the touchscreen. (1) Before, (2) After As with most components of Android, you have a choice. With such a robust collection of apps in the Play Store, more times than not, there is a workaround to software changes, allowing you to customize the experience to your liking. Step 1: Find the 'Adapt Sound' MenuTo start, head to your phone's main Settings menu, then select "Sounds and Vibration." From there, scroll down and tap on "Sound quality and effects" found along the bottom half of the menu. Now, tap on "Adapt Sound" near the bottom of the screen. You'll be asked to grant phone call related permissions, so tap "Allow" on the prompt. Within "Adapt Sound," leave the available age-based sound profiles alone, and tap on "Add Personalized Sound Profile."

Step 2: Take the Hearing TestNow, go to a totally quiet location and plug in your headphones. Tap on the "Start" button on the bottom when you're ready. Adapt Sound will now run a hearing test, which consists of a series of beeps of varying frequencies from the left and right earbuds. It'll ask if you can hear each tone along the way, so take your time and answer honestly in order to create an accurate profile.Once the test reaches 100%, you'll now notice a personalized equalizer catered to each ear. Now that you've completed the test, you're free to move on to the final step.

Step 3: Finalize Your Audio ProfileAfter finishing the tests, Adapt Sound will ask for you to choose your preferred ear for phone calls. Once you've made your decision, your custom audio profile will be activated and made available for preview. So tap on "Preview" and check out the difference Adapt Sound makes by toggling between "Personalized" and "Original," along with "Left," "Right," and "Both" ears. In addition to this, you have the option of naming your sound profile â€” simply tap on "Profile name" and enter your desired label when prompted. After that, tap on "Save" in the upper-right corner to save your profile and finish up with setup. With Adapt Sound enabled, we highly recommend playing your favorite song to determine exactly how much of an impact it's made on sound quality. We think it'll make a huge difference on how you hear audio, especially if your hearing isn't great to begin with. So all of those cool Cydia tweaks have been out of the question for quite a while now, unless you downgraded your firmware to keep jailbreak compatibility.But the Pangu team, makers of the vast majority of past jailbreak methods, never rested. After months of hard work, they've finally released a utility that will jailbreak your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touchâ€”as long as it's running any iOS version from 9.2 all the way up to 9.3.3.Don't Miss: The 10 Best Reasons to Jailbreak iOS 9The tool is called "PPJailbreak," and it's only available in Chinese at the moment, but it's a straightforward process. You'll just have to make sure you're clicking the right buttons, so I'll cover the whole process with easy-to-follow pictures below.

Step 1: Prepare Your Phone & PCFirst up, you'll need to disable Find My iPhone to prevent conflicts. So head to the iCloud menu in Settings, scroll down toward the bottom and select "Find My iPhone," then turn the feature off. Once you've done that, connect your iOS device to your PC, and if this is your first time doing so, you'll have to tap "Allow" to grant access on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. From here, open iTunes on your computer, and you may be asked to allow access from this side as well, so click "Continue" when prompted.

Step 2: Download PPJailbreakNext up, head to the iOS 9.2-9.3.3 PPJailbreak tool from your PC, then click the red stripe near the center of the screen. The text will be in Chinese, but don't worry, I'll walk you through it. After that, you'll be taken to the download page. Scroll down a bit, then stop when you see a blue circle with a screenshot below it. From here, just click the link between these two items to download the tool.

Step 3: Install the PPJailbreak Helper on Your PCOnce that's finished, open your Downloads folder, then double-click the pphelper_5.0.3_Setup.exe file to run the utility. Next up, just click the lone button toward the bottom of the popup. Then, do the same one more time. Depending on your setup, you might see a Windows Firewall warning at this time. If you do, tick the boxes next to "Private networks" and "Public networks," then click "Allow access."

Step 4: Install the PPJailbreak App on Your DeviceAt this point, the utility will be installed on your computer, but there are some files it still needs to download. So click the lone button towards the bottom of the popup that appears on first-run. Shortly after that, you'll probably see a CAPTCHAâ€”it's in English, so just type the letters you see, then click the button at the bottom. It may take as long as 15 minutes to download the necessary files, so be patient here. Once the files have finished downloading, you'll see another similar message. Again, just click the button towards the bottom of this interface. After that, you'll see a menu with two iPhone screenshots. Click the lone button at the bottom here as well. Once you do that, a "Device Management" screen will appear on your iOS device. Select the email address shown below, then tap the "Trust" button on the following screen, and verify your choice on the popup. This is installing the PPJailbreak app on your iOS device. Back on your PC, you'll see another similar screen, so click the button at the bottom again. At this point, you'll be taken to the jailbreak utility's main menu. This is strictly for diagnostics, and it's not in English, so you can disregard this screen. From this point on, the rest of the work will be done on your iOS device.

Step 5: Jailbreak Your DeviceBack on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, you'll now find an app labeled "PP" on your home screen. Go ahead and open this, then press "OK" when prompted to allow notifications. From here, tap the circular button in the center of your screen to jailbreak the device. At this point, the circular button in the app will go away, and some Chinese text will appear in its place. When this happens, lock your device using the power button. The actual jailbreak process will start as soon as you do that, and you can check your lock screen to see the progress. But when everything's done, your device will automatically reboot, and you'll be jailbroken.

Step 6: Enjoy JailbreakWhen you get back up, you'll find the Cydia app sitting right on your home screen, which you can then use to apply many different jailbreak tweaks. However, this is an "Untethered" method, which means that jailbreak will be lost if you reboot your iOS device. If that happens, simply open the "PP" app again, then tap the circle and lock your device. It will enable jailbreak again using the same process shown in Step 5, so there's not much to lose. Keep in mind that this is an early release, so some bugs should be expected. And, of course, a jailbroken device is less secure, so that's something to be aware of.
